National Council for Promotion of Sindhi Language and Ghandhidham Maitri Mandal, Adipur organized two day “Gujarat Bal and Yuva Utsav” on 1st & 2nd September 2009 at Adipur in connection with birth centenary year of Hundraj Dukhayal. The Bal and Yuva Utsav was inaugurated by Ms. Nirmala Gajwani, Chairperson of Sindhu Resettlement Corporation of Adipur by releasing balloons and lighting of lamp. Three members of NCPSL Dr. Satish Rohra, Kala Prakash and Vimmi Sadarangani also graced the occasion.
Gujarat state was divided in the following Seven Zones:
Surat
Baroda
Ahemdabad
Palanpur
Bhavnagar
Jetpur
Kutch
In the first phase, zonal competitions were held for the following categories:
1. Bal group- dance (age:8-15 years )
2. Yuva group dance (age:16-25 years)
3. Bal solo song
4. Yuva solo song
5. Bal group song (age: 8-15 years)
6. Yuva group song (age:16-25 years)
7. Bal cooking competition (Sindhi cuisine)
8. Yuva cooking painting competition (theme: SINDHIYAT)
9. Bal painting competition
10. Yuva painting competition
In all, about 2500 children and Yuva from 100 villages, towns and cities of Gujarat participated in the zonal competition. Those who were declared 1st and 2nd in each competition in each zone, were invited to participate in the Grand Finale held on 1st and 2nd September 2009 at the auditorium of Swami Lila shah Kutiya , Adipur.
In the “Grand Finale” 550 children and Yuva from various towns and cities of Gujarat participated in the final competitions. Those who were adjudged 1st & 2nd in each category were given away prizes.
